About me

I am a writer, researcher, project manager, and heritage consultant interested in 19th century politics and writing in Britain. I’m especially interested in the Chartist movement and the development of the periodical press from the late 18th to early 20th centuries, publishing my work in academic formats, community zines, magazines, and the media.

Please get in touch if you’d like to talk about any aspects of print history, Victorian periodicals, gender and labour history, or period dramas – check out my writing portfolio and CV. As the first graduate in my family, I firmly believe that the knowledge accumulated within the academy needs to be shared as widely as possible.

When I’m not working, you can find me crocheting in front of a period drama, or wandering around a museum. If you’d like to talk more or recommend some books, find me on Twitter, Bluesky, and Instagram at @vjc_torianist, or you can email me.
